They could take them to a tailor and have them remade far less expensively than getting the same thing new! A couple of years ago I took the shoulder pads out of a linen suit jacket from the 90s that I still wear but with patterned pants. Good classic clothes last a long time! Besides, the idea that I could wear anything I owned in high school is laughable considering how pathetically skinny I was back then. I do have 2 pairs of shoes from high school that I still wear, but that's because they're still in good shape and I'm too cheap to buy shoes. Also, because I donate my old clothes, I try to make sure that I don't wear them out too much. I'd rather pass along clothes that are gently used that worn out, because I know that the people who receive them need clothes that are still nice. I’m with Nick on the one year rule. I actually have a silk/linen suit that whatshername wore on Moonlighting (it was expensive!). It doesn't fit. It's hidden in my closet, but it was NICE! I also have a suit I bought in 1980. I am thinking my kids might want them. Maybe remake them! I have such a hard time throwing things out. Now I am selling in eBay to keep us going til we get jobs (augh!).
