HOWEVER… I actually did memorize my verse this time. I just had a hard time picking a verse for this week.
Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were entreating through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.
~2 Corinthians 5:20

I’m sure you all were waiting with anxious hearts on Sunday to see which verse I chose for this week. Then, I bailed on you and acted like Sunday didn’t exist in my blog world. Well, it didn’t. The only reason any day existed in my blog week last week was because I had scheduled all of my posts a long time ago!
You see, last week was mostly sucktacular. With the exception of a very awesome birthday, and a precious few other smiley moments, I hung out in the dumps all week. The reason for my foul mood is one of those chicken-or-egg things. I woke up late on the wrong side of the bed just about every morning. I skipped reading my Bible four out of seven days. I had a sucky observation at school. And it didn’t even occur to me to even read my memory verse until about Thursday. When I did, I just rolled my eyes at my idiocy and gave up.
Was my sucky mood because I chose the bed rather than time with God? Or was choosing to wallow in my mood without really consulting God due to my bad attitude about the whole thing in the first place? Probably both. It was just a downward spiral of suckiness, and my week sucked because of it.
All of that to say, I think I’m now out of my funk. And I’m going to memorize my verse, be it Tuesday or Sunday!
Do not love the world, nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
~1 John 2:15

Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification according to the need of the moment, that it may give grace to those who hear.

I know, I’m a bit late. I’ve been sick!
Do not let kindness and truth leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart.
Proverbs 3:3

My verse this week is actually one that I had halfway memorized in the NIV as a teenager. It’s great and challenging, so I decided to specifically memorize every word – this time in the NASB.
“Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.” ~Romans 12:1-2
This really sums up a lot of what God has been putting on my heart lately. It is time for me to acknowledge and accept that my life is not my own. I need to sacrifice the right to please myself and the right to take advantage of what the world has to offer. That’s not what I’m here for; my life is truly not my own.

This week’s verse:
And he said, “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I shall return there. The LORD gave and the LORD has taken away. Blessed be the name of the LORD.”

I am still trucking along with my Scripture memory! I know there’s no way to prove that I’m not cheating, (unless I mess up), but here are the verses I’ve memorized so far:
Ephesians 6:12 – For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.
Matthew 10:16 – Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore, be shrewd as serpents and innocent as doves.
Galatians 2:20 – I have been crucified with Christ, and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and delivered himself up for me.
(I acknowledge that the punctuation may not be right, but I think the words are!)
My verse for this upcoming week:
Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to accomplish His work.”
~John 4:34
After I chose it, I realized that it’s probably a pretty easy verse to memorize, but I think it will be such a great encouragement to me, as well as a reminder of why I’m here. So, in my journal and on my mirror it goes!
How about you? What verse(s) are you memorizing right now?

Still going strong! Up this week, Ephesians 6:12:
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.

Well, I must say that this past week went quite well! Galatians 2:20 is memorized.
Up this week, the 16th verse of Matthew 10:
Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves; therefore be shrewd as serpents, and innocent as doves.
This is a verse that I am very familiar with, but I couldn’t have quoted it with precision, nor could I have told you the reference. I think those two things are very important.
I believe God led me to this verse this week. Currently, I have a lot of thoughts stomping around in my brain that are causing problems for my general happiness. I will get into some of that in the coming weeks, I think, but this verse kind of brings everything back to reality for me. Yeshua boldly states that He’s sending His followers to the slaughter, just as His Father sent Him. What else could it possibly mean, Christian, if we’re the sheep and we’re headed toward the wolves?
Why am I so comfortable?
