Copying Kathy
Posted by Vanity of Vanities! on November 28, 2008
So does that make me a copy kat? ha. hahaha.
Actually, I’m copying Kathy and Shannon. But, whatever. You know you like it.
1. Wrapping paper or gift bags? I like wrapping paper better for two reasons: 1. It’s cheaper. 2. It’s WAY more fun to tear apart a wrapped present than it is to simply open a bag!
2. Real tree or Artificial? REAL! I know it’s not very green of me, but there’s just something about bringing home a tree on top of your car that you picked out just for your family. And then you set it all up and wait until the next day for the branches to fall and then you can decorate it! And the smell of pine… Ahhh. It’s just not Christmas without it.
3. When do you put up the tree? Usually the first week of December. We may have to have a tiny one this year, though, because they’re not cheap and we’re broke!
4. When do you take the tree down? Around New Year’s.
5. Do you like eggnog? Ewww…no.
6. Favorite gift received as a child? One year I got a puppy! My mom’s boyfriend dressed up like Santa and brought me a puppy that had a red bow around her neck. She was super-cute. Too bad I couldn’t keep her.
7. Hardest person to buy for? Father-in-law. He always says he doesn’t want anything in particular, but he will take every present back ever year without fail.
8. Easiest person to buy for? The kids.
9. Do you have a nativity scene? Nope. I want one, though! I am just really picky and I know whatever one I want will be mega-bucks.
10. Mail or email Christmas cards? Email? Seriously? How incredibly lame! I usually have them mailed out right after Thanksgiving so people get them the first week of December. But, I’m not sure if we’re sending any this year because we’re cutting costs!
11. Worst Christmas gift you ever received? Um…
12. Favorite Christmas Movie? White Christmas.
13. When do you start shopping for Christmas? Usually November.
14. Have you ever recycled a Christmas present? As in, put them straight into the Goodwill box? Yes.
15. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas? All of it! Just fix me another Thanksgiving!
16. Lights on the tree? Yes, of course!
17. Favorite Christmas song? O Holy Night. But, I pretty much love all of them. I could listen to Christmas music all year long. Actually, I’m stoked because I found a radio station in San Antonio that started playing Christmas music a few weeks ago! I mean, seriously. How can you be in a bad mood when the radio’s singing to sweet baby Jesus?
18. Travel at Christmas or stay home? We usually go to Dallas and Mobile, but it will be a San Antonio Christmas this year!
19. Can you name all of Santa’s reindeer’s? All of their what? Their favorite colors? You didn’t finish the sentence. LEARN GRAMMAR.
20. Angel on the tree top or a star? I prefer an angel, but I haven’t found one I liked that I could justify spending the money on. So, we have a sparkly star.
21. Open the presents Christmas Eve or morning? One on Christmas Eve and the rest on Christmas Day.
22. Most annoying thing about this time of the year? Commercialism.
23. Favorite ornament theme or color? You know, I always think it’s pretty when people have a theme, like all white and silver. It makes a pretty tree. But, I think it’s much more meaningful when each ornament has a story and a memory. One of the sweetest things about Christmas is opening up the ornaments and placing them one by one on the tree. You have a distinct memory with each one and it just makes your tree personal.
24. Favorite for Christmas dinner? Repeat.
25. What do you want for Christmas this year? For the world to see the love of Jesus and put away their doubts and fears… Big Tent Revival, baby. (Hi Spence.)
26. Who is most likely to respond to this? You. Oh now the pressure’s on!
27. Who is least likely to respond to this? I would say… Nebuchadnezzar and Attila the Hun.
28. What was your most memorable magical memory from your adulthood? Like, in general, or related to Christmas? Don’t really have a Christmas one, but I would say proposal, wedding, and honeymoon in general!
29. Have you ever been involved in a Christmas gift prank? Not that I know of! Why? Do you have a good idea?
30. Favorite Christmas cartoon? It’s not really a cartoon, but I loved Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer!

Love your list!
Check Home Depot. I started getting our trees there, a couple of years ago, because they’re a lot cheaper than most places.

That’s where we got our last one, but they didn’t have any smaller ones. We got one of the smaller kinds, but it was still six feet tall. I know you can buy short ones, but I guess I’ll just have to find a tree farm or something.

If you can’t find what you want, a rosemary bush makes a great small “tree”, and you can plant it after.

Haha. Your grammar thing killed me. I thought the same thing!

Sadly, we introduced Laura to Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer last night, and she lost interest after the first 2 minutes! I think it’s because we had been gone from the house all week and she was so excited to be back with her own toys that she had zero interest in anything else. We will try again another day, because she has to appreciate that greatness of Rudolph.

Shawn – I don’t think my apartment owners would be too pleased about that! haha
Amanda – that’s a travesty! I just saw an advertisement for it and I’m SOOOO planning on watching Wednesday night at 7 central.
